Military Pay Calculator 2026

Base pay, BAH and BAS in one figure — and what it would take as a civilian salary to match it.

Sets your BAH. Enter your duty station, not where your family lives.
All meals provided deducts roughly $409.50 a month from BAS. The BAS calculator handles partial arrangements.

Enter your grade, years of service and duty station, then press Calculate Military Pay.

The three pieces

  • Basic pay — grade and longevity. Fully taxable, and the figure every other entitlement is a percentage of.
  • BAH — housing, set by your duty station ZIP, your grade and whether you have dependents. Tax-free.
  • BAS — food. One rate for enlisted, one for officers, the same everywhere. Tax-free.

Because two of the three are tax-free, the total on your LES understates what the package is worth against a civilian salary — usually by 20–30%. That is the gap this calculator makes visible.

Estimates only, at the 2026 rates effective 1 January 2026. Excludes special and incentive pays, bonuses, hazardous duty pay, family separation allowance, COLA and the value of TRICARE and the retirement benefit. The civilian-equivalent figure grosses up only the tax-free allowances at your federal marginal rate and ignores state tax and employer benefits, so it is a floor rather than a full comparison — the military vs civilian calculator goes further.
